The University of South Alabama launched its Master of Public Administration (MPA) program in 1977. This graduate program ranks among the most extensive offerings within both the College of Arts and Sciences and the entire university. The MPA attracts students with diverse professional aspirations and varied personal backgrounds, making it inherently interdisciplinary. Its wide-ranging relevance equips graduates for numerous career paths across multiple sectors. Modern public service encompasses diverse roles spanning various industries, including but not limited to: law enforcement and legal fields, educational institutions, disaster response systems, conservation efforts, natural resource management, medical services, charitable organizations, and city planning/administration.
Students must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on all undergraduate work (on a 4-point scale) or a GPA of 2.75 over the last 60 hours of undergraduate work.
English Proficiency Requirement: Minimum Duolingo: 100; Minimum TOEFL: 71; Minimum IELTS: 6.0; Minimum iTEP: 3.7; Minimum Pearson Academic: 48.
