The PhD program primarily targets students aiming for research-focused careers in industrial and governmental sectors. The curriculum spans multiple systems-related fields while incorporating research on systems engineering topics. Potential dissertation subjects could involve advancing Systems Engineering methodologies, applying systems approaches to emerging engineering fields, or exploring areas like system reliability enhancement and pattern implementation in systems. Key goals of the Systems program are: 1) delivering a distinctive interdisciplinary curriculum addressing industry and community needs in systems engineering, 2) equipping graduates for leadership roles in applied research requiring systems engineering solutions for complex challenges, and 3) leveraging collaborative opportunities between a research university and industry partners.

Qualification Requirements
A written statement of the applicant's professional goals and commitment to completing the degree requirements (Statement of Purpose).
Three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the student's academic and technical abilities.
An M.S. degree in a discipline related to engineering (e.g. civil, computer, chemical, electrical, industrial, mechanical).
A grade point average of 3.0 or greater (on a scale of 4.0) on all graduate coursework.
A minimum score of 151 in the Verbal portion and a minimum score of 151 in the Quantitative portion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). If the applicant has a current P.E. license, or has an M.S. degree in a discipline related to engineering (e.g. civil, computer, chemical, electrical, industrial, mechanical), may request the GRE requirement be waived.
For international students whose native language is not English, a minimum score of 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL, 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, or a minimum score of band 6.5 on the IELTS are required.
Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
