The chemical engineering PhD is a doctoral program focused on original research. This curriculum equips students with deep knowledge of core chemical engineering concepts and hands-on research training. Students can pursue investigations in diverse areas including advanced materials, biotech, catalysis, surface science, electrochemistry, and computational modeling through department research groups. Typically, candidates holding a BS in chemical engineering or similar fields finish the program within five years. Participants receive a minimum yearly stipend of $28,000. During initial enrollment, the Graduate Student Committee pairs each PhD candidate with an academic advisor. Students must choose their dissertation advisor by the first semester's conclusion to guide their research work. The program organizes introductory presentations in the first term to showcase available research projects.
