The English Department provides undergraduate students with opportunities to examine diverse literary forms—including poetry, drama, fiction, and nonfiction—drawn from British, American, and global English-language traditions. Our program features courses in creative writing, film studies, media, journalism, rhetoric, and theater arts. Whatever your passions, we'll assist you in identifying suitable independent research or internship options.
Participants in our courses:

In collaboration with the University's International Theatre Program, the English department provides a specialized major designed to support students dedicating substantial portions of their undergraduate studies to theater and related disciplines, while offering formal recognition of their theatrical accomplishments.
