For over fifty years, Rochester's Department of Political Science has played a pivotal role in reshaping political science as a field. The Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) program, which began at Oxford University in the 1920s, represents an interdisciplinary approach to education. This model has expanded across UK institutions and gained significant traction at American universities and beyond. The PPE curriculum equips students to utilize ethical reasoning, microeconomic principles, and quantitative methods to address pressing social, political, and economic challenges in today's world.
Rochester offers numerous internship possibilities for students seeking hands-on involvement in political, governmental, legal, and community engagement spheres. Via PSCI 394, participants can obtain four academic credits toward their political science degree by dedicating 10-15 weekly hours to local internships while completing coursework guided by Professor Stu Jordan. Potential PSCI 394 placements encompass various opportunities.
Our collaboration with the Gwen M. Greene Career and Internships Center helps students access employment positions, internship openings, research projects, and additional professional development avenues.
