The BA program is ideal for students seeking a comprehensive foundation and the option to pursue a dual major. Those aiming for graduate studies in physics or similar disciplines may find the more rigorous BS program better suited to their needs.
Our department provides both BA and BS options in physics, as well as combined physics and astronomy degrees. The BA curriculum offers a wide-ranging perspective and the ability to combine majors, while the BS program delivers in-depth preparation for advanced studies in physics or related areas. We highly recommend that prospective graduate students engage in independent research or specialized reading during their final undergraduate year.
Students must declare their major by sophomore year's conclusion. Prospective physics or physics/astronomy majors should consult with the department's undergraduate office before this deadline to receive a faculty advisor. All core instruction comes from our dedicated professors, with graduate students and advanced undergraduates supporting workshops, discussion sessions, and laboratory work. Our adaptable program structure accommodates double majors, pre-medical, pre-law, and teacher preparation tracks.
