The History Department provides undergraduate programs culminating in either a standard BA or an honors BA degree. Students can also pursue a history minor. Most history courses are open to non-majors, who frequently discover a passion for historical studies while focusing on other disciplines. Additionally, the department has designed 15 specialized course clusters for non-majors to satisfy social sciences requirements, featuring both regional focuses (like U.S. History) and thematic concentrations (such as Conflict and Social Change).
A history major benefits not just aspiring historians but also those entering diverse fields including:
Legal practice, Corporate sectors, Cultural institutions, Government work, Analytical research, Media, Government, Education, Historical preservation, Information services, Organizational leadership, Marketing, and Human services.
