The University of Rochester's Advanced Certificate Program in Clinical/Medical Technology aims to train the next generation of clinical laboratory professionals who demonstrate dedication, expertise, and innovation. Through comprehensive educational approaches, we foster exceptional patient care while developing proficiency, collaboration, and ethical standards in laboratory practice.
This intensive program equips students for careers in clinical laboratory science through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
NAACLS (National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science), located at 5600 N. River Rd. Suite 720 Rosemont, IL 60018-5119, has accredited the program through spring 2024, with reaccreditation currently underway. A decision regarding continued accreditation is expected shortly.
New York State recognizes this program as meeting licensure qualifications (refer to NYS Education's program registry). Graduates satisfy educational prerequisites for licensure but must complete additional steps to practice in NYS, including application submission, fees, and passing the NYS/ASCP board exam. The program hasn't determined if its curriculum satisfies licensure requirements in other states.
Program completion and certificate award aren't contingent upon passing external licensing examinations.
