The Juris Doctor and Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership (NPL) dual degree program is a collaborative initiative between the University of Pennsylvania Law School (Penn Law) and the School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2). This JD/NPL program equips future leaders with the expertise to guide legal and nonprofit organizations. Graduates emerge with transformative capabilities for nonprofit organizations, social ventures, and global NGOs. The curriculum fosters creative problem-solving to tackle persistent issues in the social impact field, empowering graduates to drive organizational transformation and societal progress. Participants develop core competencies in leadership development, philanthropic strategies, and social entrepreneurship that enhance their legal practice.
Applicants for master’s and doctoral programs must have obtained a bachelor’s degree from an accredited School or University prior to intended matriculation date.
A strong command of the English language is necessary for successful study at Penn. Applicants whose families do not speak English at home, or applicants who have not attended a high school or secondary school where the primary language of instruction is English, are asked to take the TOEFL, the Test of English as a Foreign Language, administered by the Educational Testing Service. In the event the TOEFL is not readily accessible, Penn will accept results from the IELTS, the International English Language Testing System.
