The Biology Graduate Program encompasses diverse biological disciplines, fostering collaboration among students and faculty to expand perspectives and bridge various scientific fields. Research specialties span microbiology, cellular biology, developmental studies, physiology, neurosciences, animal behavior, botany, genetics, bioinformatics, evolutionary studies, ecological systems, and biodiversity conservation. New graduate students enjoy the flexibility to explore research subjects from molecular interactions to cellular processes, organismal biology, genomic studies, and ecosystem dynamics. The program promotes interdisciplinary learning by allowing students to rotate through labs with any participating faculty member. As scholars refine their research focus, they can customize their academic path by selecting relevant courses across Penn's departments and schools.
