The joint Business Analytics concentration offered by the OID and STAT departments aims to develop strong expertise in key skills for implementing and managing data-driven business decisions. This includes: (1) gathering, organizing, and summarizing datasets, (2) drawing conclusions and forecasts from data, and (3) making well-informed, resilient choices. Business analytics heavily relies on statistical methods, with applications across all business functions. Students who pursue this concentration will be well-prepared for the expanding field of data science careers, which involve data management and analysis. Furthermore, it serves as a valuable enhancement for students specializing in any business discipline (such as accounting, finance, marketing, or operations).
International applicant should have completed a program of secondary education that would enable you to enter a university in your own country (e.g., A-levels, Abitur).
A strong command of the English language is necessary for successful study at Penn. Applicants whose families do not speak English at home, or applicants who have not attended a high school or secondary school where the primary language of instruction is English, are asked to take the TOEFL, the Test of English as a Foreign Language, administered by the Educational Testing Service. In the event the TOEFL is not readily accessible, Penn will accept results from the IELTS, the International English Language Testing System.
