Philosophy endeavors to shed light on core elements of existence, our connection with and understanding of reality, and our essence as thinking, intentional, and communal creatures. Engaging with philosophy fosters an understanding of how this pursuit has evolved historically, its current approaches, and potential future directions. Additionally, it offers a perspective for examining the foundations and accomplishments of other fields like science, creative arts, and humanistic studies. Philosophical subjects generally fall into two broad categories: value theory (including morality, governance, and artistic judgment) and theoretical philosophy (covering knowledge systems, reality's nature, consciousness, and reasoning). The major's four specialized tracks enable students to focus on distinct philosophical inquiries.
