Philosophy endeavors to shed light on core elements of existence, exploring our connection with and understanding of the world, as well as our essence as thinking, intentional, and communal creatures. Engaging with philosophy fosters recognition of how this pursuit has been, currently is, and potentially could be undertaken. It also offers a perspective for contemplating the essence and accomplishments of other fields, including sciences, creative arts, and humanistic studies. Philosophical subjects generally fall into two broad categories: value theory (encompassing morality, governance, and artistic judgment) and theoretical philosophy (covering knowledge systems, reality's nature, consciousness, and reasoning). The major's four specialized tracks enable students to focus on distinct areas of inquiry.
