The School of Music and Dance stands as the leading music education institution in the Pacific Northwest. Boasting the most extensive full-time music faculty presence on the West Coast north of Los Angeles, our distinguished professors regularly perform and conduct research across local, national, and international stages, offering students direct insight into professional artistic and academic careers.
Our curriculum encompasses music education, performance studies, teaching methods, creative composition, orchestral direction, jazz programs, musical analysis, historical music studies, world music traditions, music literature, audio technology, and music-focused liberal arts.
Those seeking intensive music training can pursue the bachelor of music (BMus) degree or specialize in music history, music theory, or music technology. For students desiring a wider arts education alongside music studies, we offer bachelor of arts (BA) and bachelor of science (BS) degrees with general music or popular music specializations. The general music track requires about two years of music courses without audition or portfolio requirements.
