The women's, gender, and sexuality studies program investigates gender and sexuality across various aspects of society - including political, cultural, economic, and physical dimensions. Using an interdisciplinary approach, students analyze how factors like gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and ability influence individual identities, perspectives, opportunities, and actions. The curriculum covers diverse power structures through courses on black feminist thought, global feminisms, and feminist perspectives on history, literature, and the arts. The department fosters critical thinking that inspires meaningful societal evolution.

Within the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department, students confront conventional norms by critically examining themselves and their surrounding communities. Majors in this field re-examine historical narratives, analyze economic inequalities, and develop innovative solutions to drive meaningful social transformation.
