The School of Music and Dance stands as the leading higher education establishment for musical studies in the Pacific Northwest. Boasting the most extensive full-time, on-campus music faculty along the West Coast north of Los Angeles, our distinguished instructors regularly perform and conduct research across local, national, and international platforms, offering students direct insight into professional artistic and academic careers.
Our curriculum encompasses music education, performance, pedagogy, composition, conducting, jazz studies, music theory, musicology, ethnomusicology, music history and literature, music technology, and liberal arts music studies.
For those seeking conservatory-level training, we recommend pursuing either the bachelor of music (BMus) degree or a music major with concentrations in music history and literature, music theory, or music technology. The bachelor of arts (BA) and bachelor of science (BS) degrees with general music or popular music studies concentrations cater to students desiring a comprehensive liberal arts education with a music focus. The general music concentration requires about two years of music coursework without audition or portfolio requirements.
