Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese can choose among three distinct pathways: the culture-focused program, the language-focused program, or the linguistics-focused track. These specialized tracks allow students to tailor their studies while not appearing on official transcripts. Similar academic structures may be referred to as concentrations, specializations, emphases, study tracks, focus areas, preparatory programs, primary/secondary subjects, or academic subfields. Develop advanced Chinese language skills through engaging, interactive, and intensive coursework. The program explores Chinese culture, society, literature, and linguistics from both historical and modern viewpoints. The Chinese major offers three specialized tracks: language studies, cultural studies, or linguistic studies. Working closely with departmental advisors, students can customize their academic journey by selecting the track that best aligns with their interests. The Chinese program is part of the broader Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures.
