Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese can choose among three distinct pathways: the culture-focused track, the language-intensive program, or the linguistics-centered option. These specialized tracks allow students to tailor their studies while remaining part of the same degree program, though these designations won't appear on official transcripts. Similar academic structures may be referred to as concentrations, specializations, emphases, fields of study, or academic tracks.
Develop advanced Chinese language skills through engaging, interactive, and intensive coursework. The program explores Chinese culture, social structures, literary traditions, and linguistic systems from both historical and modern viewpoints. The Chinese major offers three specialized routes: language studies, cultural studies, or linguistic studies. Working closely with departmental advisors, students can craft an academic path that aligns with their specific interests in Chinese studies. This major is administered through the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures alongside related programs.
