The University of Oklahoma's School of Music is dedicated to fostering education, creative expression, research, and community engagement. Through their work, both faculty and students support the field of music education, expand artistic and academic knowledge, and strengthen the musical community through local and global professional service. Founded in 1903 as OU's second academic school, it has held membership in the National Association of Schools of Music since 1931. As Oklahoma's sole music school offering doctoral programs, it enriches its community through the creative and intellectual contributions of its faculty, students, and graduates. OU provides music degrees specializing in composition, education, music history, performance, and theory. While honoring its heritage, the School of Music continues to develop forward-thinking programs that equip students for a changing, multicultural world.
