The Women's and Gender Studies Program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to expand students' understanding of gender dynamics throughout different societies and historical periods. Classes explore how gender intersects with various aspects including political systems, religious beliefs, social structures, economic conditions, military conflicts, communication methods, artistic expressions, domestic life, and mass media. With 68 professors drawn from multiple university departments, the program equips students with valuable professional abilities such as analytical reasoning, effective writing, presentation skills, time management, mediation techniques, cultural sensitivity training, and initiative planning. By developing broad interdisciplinary insights and global awareness through Women's and Gender Studies, students maximize their academic and civic potential. Graduates with majors or minors in this field become highly qualified candidates for careers in corporate and nonprofit sectors, social services, rights activism, victim support services, as well as advanced studies in legal, medical, counseling, educational, business, technology, media, creative arts, healthcare, or scholarly research fields.

Qualification Requirements

Admission to the University of Oklahoma is based on completion of a rigorous secondary school curriculum, demonstrated by a recognized certificate of completion that would qualify you for entrance into a university in your country.

Minimum 3.0 GPA

Applicants must submit official transcripts from each institution attended.

Freshman must submit official transcripts from all secondary or middle schools attended. If secondary school in your country includes standardized graduation exams and certificates, official copies of these should be submitted.
All freshman applicants are required to submit one letter of recommendation, two additional letters may be submitted.

Any high school official, including a counselor, teacher, principal, etc. Preferably someone who knows the student well.
Students will need to know the name and email address of their preferred recommender so he/she can be contacted about composing the letter of recommendation.
