Social workers commit themselves to assisting individuals in enhancing their quality of life. At the Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work, students acquire essential competencies to support individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities, fostering environments where all can thrive. Graduates from the University of Oklahoma's social work program serve in diverse organizations and engage with various populations. Constructed in 2011, Anne and Henry Zarrow Hall was designed to meet the expanding needs of OU's Social Work program, featuring advanced classrooms, communal areas, and a cutting-edge simulation lab for skill development. The Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) requires 60 credit hours of successful coursework, incorporating hands-on learning experiences like Interviewing Skills for Generalist Practice. This course provides a guided, simulated setting for students to practice leadership and active listening during client interactions. Additionally, students can pursue a prestigious social work degree and earn certifications from national and state entities, including the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) and Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS).
