The Department of Political Science serves as the intellectual hub for professors, administrative personnel, undergraduate scholars, and graduate researchers passionate about political systems and academic inquiry. Our department provides two bachelor's programs—one in political science and another in public and nonprofit administration—alongside master's degrees in political science and public administration, plus a PhD in political science. Recognized as one of OU's most diverse academic units, we explore subjects ranging from American government and global politics to policy analysis, governance, and philosophical foundations of politics. No single intellectual approach dominates; instead, our multicultural faculty and student body explore knowledge through varied perspectives. Department affiliates include the Carl Albert Congressional Research Center, OU POLL (Public Opinion Learning Lab), Public Affairs Institute, International Studies programs, American Constitutional Heritage Institute, and Social Research Center.
