The Latin American Area Studies program offers a focused exploration of the region's historical and cultural landscape. This curriculum highlights Latin America's economic, geographical, social, and political dynamics alongside its contemporary challenges. Home to nearly 500 million people, Latin America maintains growing significance for the United States, building upon long-standing historical connections. Learners will analyze the evolving relationship between these regions, focusing on shared cultural elements and mutual goals that strengthen with increasing interdependence. Those specializing in Latin American Area Studies will select their language focus, with opportunities to start learning Spanish or Portuguese from their first year of study.

All freshman applicants are required to submit one letter of recommendation, two additional letters may be submitted.
