At OU's Department of Anthropology, students explore all aspects of humanity, spanning from ancient times to modern day. The undergraduate program offers coursework across anthropology's four core disciplines: linguistic, sociocultural, archaeological, and biological anthropology. The department provides numerous hands-on learning experiences through fieldwork, lab work, and museum opportunities that bring classroom concepts to life. Students can: 1. Participate in summer archaeological digs to master excavation methods, 2. Assist professors in archaeology and biological anthropology research labs, 3. Collaborate with faculty and indigenous communities to preserve Oklahoma's Native American languages, 4. Contribute to health-related anthropological research projects, 5. Gain experience at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History through sociocultural, linguistic, or archaeological work, 6. Pursue internships in any anthropological specialization or museum studies.
