The Instrument Studies division provides a Master of Music performance degree specializing in: violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, guitar, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, and multiple woodwind instruments. When you enroll in UNT's Instrumental Performance graduate program, you become part of an accomplished network of musicians who have triumphed in prestigious competitions and hold positions with symphony orchestras, concert bands, and music schools across the globe.
Our graduate program stands out for its personalized instruction through one-on-one lessons with internationally acclaimed performers and educators. With 34 full-time faculty and 20 adjunct professors from elite ensembles like the Dallas Symphony and Fort Worth Symphony, we provide one of America's most extensive music education experiences. Admission requires demonstration of performance capability through a senior recital or equivalent. Non-UNT harpsichord graduates must present a 30-minute audition showcasing undergraduate-level repertoire to our faculty panel.
