Our M.A. in Art Education provides three distinct pathways—Advanced Studies, Museum Education, and Teaching Certification—designed to help you: Strengthen your advocacy for arts education, Rediscover your teaching inspiration, Emerge as an institutional leader, Develop expertise to impact administrative decisions, and Join a vibrant professional network.
This program is ideal for certified art teachers seeking graduate-level coursework, museum education careers, or Texas K-12 art certification. Students benefit from exclusive partnerships with renowned institutions including the African American Museum, Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Crow Museum of Asian Art, Dallas Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum, Meadows Museum, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the Greater Denton Arts Council.
Our master's program enhances students' understanding of art education methodologies, theories, and research while allowing specialization in museum or classroom settings. The curriculum blends analytical discourse, innovative scholarship, transformative art creation, and inclusive frameworks for sustainable educational practices. With three specialized tracks, students can pursue advanced professional development or additional certifications, optionally complementing practicum requirements with thesis or project work. The 36-credit program culminates in an M.A. degree upon successful completion.
