Our inorganic chemistry faculty conduct experimental and computational studies across diverse areas such as photoinduced Jahn-Teller phenomena, electron transfer processes, metal-metal bonding, and both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. The department features cutting-edge facilities for structural analysis, including a modern dual-source Mo/Cu single crystal X-ray diffractometer, multinuclear NMR spectrometers, and comprehensive mass spectrometry capabilities.

The Ph.D. program focuses on autonomous research in your selected chemistry specialization. Doctoral degrees are offered with specializations in Inorganic, Organic, Physical, or Analytical Chemistry, as well as Chemistry Education.

GRE scores. The Chemistry Department is no longer requiring the GRE for admissions. If you would like to submit test scores, you may, but it is not required.
3 letters of recommendation are required, with at least two from faculty in Chemistry or closely related fields.
Your application will be reviewed holistically and individually. We do not have a set of parameters for this reason. However, typically we do prefer to see:

A BS or BA in a related science field
GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
A Statement of Purpose is a 1-2 page essay that generally serves to explain why you are applying to this program.
