Share your love of reading and writing with the next generation. The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences offers students the opportunity to consider secondary education as a rewarding career path. After finishing this program, you'll be ready to take certification exams for Language Arts and Reading instruction.

Among UNT's College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences programs, the English major stands as one of the most popular. Esteemed as a core liberal arts discipline, it equips you for advanced studies in literature or creative writing while also opening doors to diverse professions—from education and law to publishing and corporate fields—that highly value sharp analytical abilities and strong communication skills.

Through this program, you'll enhance your writing proficiency, critical analysis, and reasoning capabilities while studying American, British, and global literary works, creative writing techniques, literary criticism, composition methods, language arts, and rhetorical studies.

No matter which direction you pursue, you'll acquire something truly precious: a broader perspective on life's opportunities, expanded mental and creative boundaries, and deeper empathy for both yourself and those around you.
