With national accreditation, the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program offers an interdisciplinary professional degree tailored for students beginning or progressing in public service, nonprofit work, or private sector careers. Our graduates serve in leadership roles across local, state, and federal government agencies as well as nonprofit institutions. The MPA program, based within the Department of Public and International Affairs in the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts, delivers a comprehensive terminal degree that: prepares students for managerial roles in government and nonprofit organizations, strengthens the skills of current professionals in southeastern North Carolina's management positions, generates meaningful public administration research, and delivers engaged public service to enhance administrative practices and nonprofit leadership in the region.

Qualification Requirements

Official transcripts of all college work (undergraduate and graduate). A GPA of 3.0 at the undergraduate level is required for admission. Students with a GPA below 3.0 may be accepted provisionally when there is a record of professional work experience longer than 3 years or other evidence that suggests the ability to successfully complete graduate coursework. Such evidence could include work experience in excess of three years, standardized test scores on the GRE/GMAT, and/or successful completion of other graduate coursework.

Bachelor's Degree - Hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in this country or its equivalent in a foreign institution.
Grade Point Average - Have a strong overall academic record with a B average or better in the basic courses prerequisite to the area of proposed graduate study.
The Graduate School requires one official transcript from each university, college, community college, junior college and high school dual enrollment institution attended.
Transfer credit listed on another institution's transcript is not acceptable. Transcripts are not required for short term study abroad work that is Tran scripted (i.e., the courses and/or grades from the study abroad experience are listed) by a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
