The Master of Science (M.S.) in Counseling program equips students with advanced, research-backed, ethical, and culturally aware competencies to support clients effectively. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization trains you to evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment for individuals, groups, and families across diverse environments. These may include hospitals, outpatient clinics, home-based care, and private practices.
The CED department has earned repeated acclaim as one of the nation's premier graduate education programs from U.S. News & World Report, securing third place nationally in 2023. For over twenty years, the program has maintained its position among the Top 10.
In North Carolina, CED stands as the leading graduate program for Counseling.
CED houses the Nicholas Vacc Counseling and Consulting Clinic, an on-site training facility where all students gain hands-on experience assisting clients.
Throughout the counseling program, master's students receive rigorous clinical guidance from faculty as they refine their therapeutic abilities during practicum and internship placements.
