The M.L.I.S. program focuses on the dynamic evolution of library and information services. This 36-credit hour degree holds accreditation from the American Library Association. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction approves licensure for various career paths in the state's public schools. Students may also qualify for North Carolina Public Library Certification upon graduation. With its interdisciplinary approach, the M.L.I.S. attracts students from diverse academic backgrounds. Many enter the program with prior library experience, either as undergraduates or paraprofessionals, preparing them for leadership roles in information institutions. The School Library track specifically prepares certified teachers or unlicensed librarians for certification in North Carolina public schools.
Our Library and Information Science program maintains national accreditation through the American Library Association.
