The Master of Arts in Teaching program provides eight specialization areas: Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary English Education, Secondary Math Education, Secondary Science Education, Secondary Social Studies Education, Special Education, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). These programs conclude with an Initial Competencies Portfolio, enabling graduates to qualify for North Carolina's A-level teaching certification.
This graduate program caters to individuals holding bachelor's degrees who didn't complete teacher preparation during their undergraduate studies. Each concentration includes mandatory prerequisite or corequisite coursework essential for North Carolina teaching certification. These foundational courses must be finished before candidates can obtain licensure recommendations.

Qualification Requirements
The Graduate School requires a course-by-course evaluation report showing completion of a bachelors and a graduate degree if required by the program that is equivalent to a US degree from an international college or university recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education or Commission responsible for higher education in the country where the degree is earned.
Students enter Graduate School with no academic standing and are expected to earn at least a GPA of 3.0 in their first semester to be placed in Academic Good Standing Continuing students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in all graduate course work at UNCG to remain in Academic Good Standing.
Academic Transcripts - For US transcripts please follow the normal protocol from your institution when ordering official transcripts For Undergraduate Admissions the International Recruitment and Admissions Office accepts stamped copies of high school transcripts from US community colleges.
IBT TOEFL 79 TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition score report also accepted same score and paper based - 550.
