The Master of Arts in Teaching program is tailored for individuals holding a bachelor's degree who haven't completed teacher preparation or certification during their undergraduate studies. This program features eight specialization areas: Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary English Education, Secondary Mathematics Education, Secondary Science Education, Secondary Social Studies Education, Special Education, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Participants complete the program by developing an Initial Competencies Portfolio, qualifying them to apply for A-level licensure through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
Our aspiring educators represent diverse academic and professional backgrounds, spanning fields like communications, business, psychology, political science, and careers ranging from retail to engineering to social work and homemaking. What unites them is a shared passion for educating youth and making a meaningful difference in people's lives.
