The Doctor of Philosophy in Communication Sciences and Disorders offers advanced academic training, focusing on cultivating research capabilities and teaching expertise. This post-master's research doctorate program spans 63 credit hours, with flexible part-time or full-time enrollment options typically requiring four to seven years for completion.
Doctoral candidates work closely with faculty advisors and collaborate with both CSD professors and interdisciplinary scholars to gain:
Guidance in fundamental or practical research along with grant proposal development.
Pedagogical training complemented by hands-on teaching opportunities.
The program accommodates both part-time and full-time students at UNCG. Full-time students generally finish in three to five years, while part-time students typically complete the program in five to seven years.
Full-time load: 3-4 courses per term
Part-time load: 1-2 courses per term
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or appropriately evaluated credentials for non-U.S. schools.
English Language Proficiency: TOEFL: internet based - 79, or paper based - 550. A score of at least 6.5 is required on the IELTS.
