UNC Greensboro's Bachelor of Science in Special Education equips future teachers to guide and support students with disabilities across both public and private K-12 environments. The program emphasizes hands-on learning through four clinical field experiences, culminating in a full-semester student-teaching opportunity. Graduates emerge as skilled professionals ready to champion inclusive education and community integration.
Note: A collaborative program between the Departments of Teacher Education & Higher Education and Specialized Education Services offers dual licensure in elementary and special education. This pathway qualifies graduates for initial teaching certifications in both Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education: General Curriculum (K-12).
The Dual Licensure Concentration immerses undergraduate candidates in diverse educational settings through clinical and field-based training. As students progress, they implement their growing expertise in real classrooms, building a strong foundation for their teaching careers. The program concludes with a student-teaching experience in an inclusive learning environment.
Freshmen must have completed minimum high school course requirements.
English Language Proficiency exams for direct entry: IBT TOEFL 79 minimum; IELTS 6.5 minimum; ELS 112 score report, PTE Academic 53 and Duolingo English Test DET 105.
