The Kinesiology Department offers a focused Physical Education and Health Teacher Education (PEHTE) major, which grants K-12 teaching certification for physical education in North Carolina and numerous other states. This curriculum equips aspiring educators through hands-on experiences including observation, participation, assistance, and instructional practice with K-12 students, including those requiring special education services.
With around 700 undergraduate students, Kinesiology ranks as the university's fourth-largest academic department.

Freshmen must have completed minimum high school course requirements.
English Language Proficiency exams for direct entry: IBT TOEFL 79 minimum; IELTS 6.5 minimum; ELS 112 score report, PTE Academic 53 and Duolingo English Test DET 105.
