Qualification Requirements

In addition to the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School, the following are ordinarily required for admission to the M.A. in History program.

A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 in History or a related discipline
A personal statement outlining the candidate's background, interest, and goals in History
Three letters of recommendation from former instructors and/or employers
A writing sample of at least 6-8 pages

For non-native English language speakers: official and satisfactory scores on the English language proficiency scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) are required. A minimum score of 83 on the Internet-based TOEFL or a minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS is required for admissions consideration.
