The Graduate Certificate in Play Therapy offers a structured curriculum focused on play therapy studies. This program is designed for individuals who already hold a master's degree in counseling, social work, or psychology but seek specialized training in play therapy. Current master's or doctoral students in UNC Charlotte's Department of Counseling may also enroll in the certificate courses.
To earn the Graduate Certificate, students must complete at least 4 courses (totaling twelve credit hours), all taken at UNC Charlotte.
This is not an online program, though some courses incorporate distance learning elements. Two classes are offered in a hybrid format, combining remote instruction with occasional in-person sessions on campus.
Students have five years to finish all requirements, with the timeline starting from their first enrolled course. Be aware that failing to complete at least one course per academic year will require reapplying to the program.
