The Graduate Certificate in Human-Computer Interaction equips students with expertise in creating user-centered interface designs for software applications. This program offers foundational knowledge of human-centered design approaches along with hands-on training in developing, prototyping, building, and assessing user interfaces.
To earn the certificate, students must complete four graduate-level courses (totaling 12 credit hours) focused on human-computer interaction and design. With approval from the Graduate Program Director, students may substitute relevant courses.
This certificate serves as either an independent graduate credential for students holding bachelor's or master's degrees, or as a complementary program alongside other UNC Charlotte graduate degrees. The 12 certificate credits may count toward graduate programs in the Department of Software and Information Systems, subject to departmental approval.
Students must fulfill all certificate requirements within five years of enrolling in their first certificate course. Credits applied to one graduate certificate cannot be reused for another certificate program.
