The Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics and Analytics (HIA) provides foundational knowledge in healthcare data management and analysis. This 15-credit program combines coursework with non-credit competency assessments, offering flexible delivery through both in-person and online formats. Students can choose to complete the program entirely online, on-campus, or through a hybrid approach. The certificate can be earned alongside other graduate degree programs at UNC Charlotte and serves as the initial phase of the Professional Science Master's in Health Informatics and Analytics (HIA PSM), enabling seamless progression for continuing students. All certificate credits are transferable to the M.S. in Health Informatics and Analytics degree.

Students enrolled in multiple degree programs may apply up to 9 shared credit hours between this certificate and another degree. Qualification Requirements

Bachelor's degree or its U.S. equivalent, from a college or university accredited by an accepted accrediting body. See the Graduate Catalog Glossary for a list of accrediting bodies.
GPA of 2.75 or higher on all post-secondary work attempted. If the applicant has earned a post-baccalaureate, degree grades in that program will be taken into consideration.
A Statement of Purpose (essay) submitted online as part of the application submission process. The Statement should describe your experience, objectives for undertaking graduate study and research interests, if any. Unofficial transcripts of all academic work attempted beyond high (secondary) school can be used for admission review. An official (officially certified) final transcript must be submitted if an applicant is offered admission. International transcripts provided in a language other than English should be uploaded, but a translated version should be uploaded as well.
