The Behavioral Science Health Psychology (BSHP) program focuses on fundamental and practical research exploring how biological, psychological, behavioral, social, cultural, and environmental factors influence health and disease. This program is perfect for students who want to experimentally investigate or compare different factors affecting health-related behaviors, decision-making processes, and health results in non-clinical environments and groups. Aligned with UNC Charlotte's interdisciplinary approach, we promote integrating insights from psychology's varied disciplines to build a more comprehensive view of health challenges. This principle is reflected in our faculty's diverse expertise spanning social psychology, cognitive science, individual differences, physiological psychology, and organizational communication.
Students in the BSHP program receive training that prioritizes building robust research and data analysis capabilities. Starting in their first term, students participate actively in research projects, maintaining this involvement throughout their graduate studies. Graduates from this program are exceptionally prepared for research-focused roles in academic institutions, healthcare organizations, government agencies, and corporate environments.
