The Earth and Marine Sciences graduate program offers customized academic and research training, equipping students for diverse professional paths in earth, ocean, environmental sciences, and allied disciplines. Students can pursue either a Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. The program prioritizes workforce readiness and ongoing research development by cultivating critical skills, broad scientific knowledge, and specialized expertise. Each student's academic journey is guided by a faculty committee led by their primary advisor.
Students also enroll in advanced coursework within their chosen specialization. The program offers focused tracks in geology, marine sciences, or biological sciences/ecology for targeted study.
For admission to the Department of Marine Sciences, an undergraduate degree is required in a basic science such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, bacteriology, botany, zoology, geology, or in computer science or engineering. Students are advised to develop a broad undergraduate science major with as many as possible of the following courses: mathematics through calculus, computer science, physics, general and organic chemistry, environmental science, physical chemistry, invertebrate zoology or paleontology, botany, zoology, ecology, physiology, geology, and statistics.
The required minimum total score on the exams are internet-based TOEFL exam = 90, The IELTS exam = 7.
