Our School Counseling M.Ed. program offers an intensive 14-month journey, featuring a full-year school internship, that results in licensure and equips you to champion students with varied needs and goals.
The M.Ed. in School Counseling is a rigorous 14-month curriculum where students engage in a close-knit cohort and undertake a yearlong internship, thoroughly preparing them for excellence as school counselors.
This accredited program qualifies graduates for K-12 school counseling licensure in North Carolina, with potential reciprocity in other states. Graduates may also pursue Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor certification after completing two years of supervised post-master's counseling work.
Our 60-credit curriculum employs a strengths-focused methodology, training school counselors to deliver comprehensive programs aligned with the American School Counseling Association National Model.
Following a cohort structure, our program includes a yearlong public school internship, enabling practical, experiential learning within a supportive, tightly-connected peer group.
Applicants must be in good academic standing and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. If below a 3.0, please provide justification for consideration of admission in your statement of purpose.
The required minimum total score on the exams are internet-based TOEFL exam = 90, The IELTS exam = 7.
