Geography serves as a vital link connecting the social and environmental sciences. Utilizing analytical and theoretical frameworks from ecology, cultural ecology, political ecology, and science studies, UNC geographers examine environmental transformation geographies, the political-economic and social construction of environment-society relationships, and socio-ecological system dynamics. Many faculty and graduate students collaborate closely with the Carolina Population Center, while others engage in interdisciplinary work across campus with researchers in science studies, health studies, and development studies.
