UNC's Accounting PhD program is an intensive four to five-year curriculum that prepares students to become academic researchers at leading institutions. The program focuses on applying concepts from economics, finance, decision theory, and statistics to address accounting research questions. While some applicants may have graduate experience before joining, prior graduate education isn't required. Interestingly, having an accounting background is neither mandatory nor a guarantee for excelling in the PhD program.
The completion of a bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent with an accredited institution and a minimum overall average grade of B (cumulative GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) is required.
The required minimum total score on the exams are internet-based TOEFL exam = 90, The IELTS exam = 7.
