The Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies is provided through the Latin American Studies Curriculum within the College of Arts and Sciences. This interdisciplinary program encourages deep intellectual exploration of a remarkably diverse region with profound cultural depth, offering a cohesive academic structure. The major focuses on: Gaining foundational understanding of key aspects in Latin American and Caribbean history, culture, and modern societal, economic, and political matters, Cultivating an interdisciplinary approach as the most effective way to examine Latin America and the Caribbean, both historically and currently, within wider global contexts, Achieving proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or other regional languages as needed for individual study plans.
All students will be expected to have completed the pre-university curriculum (Secondary School/High School) in their country prior to enrolling at UNC-Chapel Hill. English Language Tests: TOEFL minimum is 100; IELTS minimum is 7.0; PTE minimum is 68.
