Performance manifests across diverse settings - from theatrical stages to urban streets, embedded in cultural traditions and our daily self-expression. Performance studies employs performance as a lens to examine identity, technology, societal frameworks, and routine existence. Our curriculum empowers students to craft unique performance pieces, apply performance as an analytical tool, and harness it for community involvement and equity initiatives. This departmental focus provides interconnected coursework spanning textual analysis, oral traditions, ethnographic research, and both theoretical and practical aspects of creating and staging performances. These academic pursuits connect with numerous extracurricular performance opportunities, such as guest scholar workshops, involvement in conferences and festivals nationwide, campus productions, collaborations with acclaimed writers, and performance-based community activism.
