Anthropology explores humanity across all eras and locations through an integrated lens. This field provides unique insights into forgotten histories, ancient civilizations, the interplay between human biology and environment, and how societies construct meaning, values, and historical narratives in daily life. Prospective majors or minors should explore the department's website and navigate to the undergraduate program section. Those intending to declare an anthropology major must notify the department's undergraduate studies director and maintain regular advising sessions. The Anthropology Department's curriculum provides undergraduates with unparalleled exposure to our biological and cultural heritage, as well as contemporary global issues. Through this program, students cultivate essential communication abilities for navigating our rapidly evolving social and environmental landscape. The major also equips graduates with versatile knowledge and competencies applicable to diverse career paths, including but extending beyond professional anthropology roles.
