The School of the Arts provides Master of Fine Arts programs in Film and Theatre, featuring four specialized tracks: Film-Production, Film-Screenwriting, Theatre-Performance (including Acting and Directing), and Theatre-Design (covering Scenic, Lighting, and Costume disciplines). Playwriting studies are available through the Creative Writing Workshop. Our department maintains accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Theatre, ensuring our MFA programs meet NAST's rigorous benchmarks.
The MFA serves as a terminal degree for aspiring professionals in film production, theatre arts, and creative writing. Unlike the Master of Arts (MA), this degree represents the highest academic achievement in these fields rather than preparation for doctoral studies. A terminal degree is typically required for teaching positions at universities and colleges.
