The UNM Printmaking program provides education across diverse print techniques such as Intaglio, Lithography, Monotype, Relief, Serigraphy, and Digital Processes. Beyond conventional printmaking methods, students explore the medium's significance in contemporary art through cross-disciplinary approaches and creative experimentation. A distinctive feature is the Collaborative Lithography class, conducted jointly with the prestigious Tamarind Institute of Lithography.
In this course, Tamarind's printer trainees work alongside UNM students to produce limited lithographic editions. Furthermore, the Printmaking program organizes yearly community engagement initiatives and has partnered with various organizations, ranging from public schools to nonprofit social service agencies, both domestically and abroad. The Southwest region boasts a vibrant printmaking community, with UNM Printmaking playing a pivotal leadership role.
